LUCA NOSTRO QUINTET “ARE YOU OK?
NEW ALBUM recorded in New York City with DONNY MCCASLIN, JOHN ESCREET, JOE SANDERS, TYSHAWN SOREY, produced by JANDO MUSIC and VIAVENETO JAZZ

Merely a few days following its release on iTunes this album shot up to second position on the Jazz charts and has been editor's pick in Downbeat's December 2015 issue.

Luca Nostro is a composer and guitarist, particularly active in contemporary and jazz music scenes

He has recorded four albums in New York City, three of which as leader together with some of the most acclaimed musicians worldwide such as Donny McCaslin and Scott Colley. He graduated from the Music University, specializing in jazz music, with Fabio Zeppetella and worked together with Ramberto Ciammarughi, Umberto Fiorentino, Massimo Moriconi, Giovanni Tommaso, Danilo Rea, Maurizio Giammarco, Fabrizio Sferra, Antonio Sanchez, Mark Turner, Dan Weiss, Tyshawn Sorey, John Escreet, Joe Sanders. Luca Nostro has performed in some the of the most important clubs and international festivals among which: Small’s  and Shapeshifter Lab in New York, La Casa del Jazz in Rome, the Blue Note in Milan, Summer Jazz Days in Warsaw and  the Italian Jazz Days in New York.

His albums (Ulrich, Orkaan 2007, Element, SLJC 2008, Incipit, Jazz Engine 2012, Are You ok? Jando Music/Via Veneto 2015) have been appraised by leading magazines and web portals, both national and international such as Jazzwise, Musica Jazz, Jazz It, Jazzitalia. His music has been broadcast by Radio Tre (Battiti) Radio Vaticana, TVN Warsaw and he has been interviewed by Jazz It, Jazz Convention, SBS Radio (Australia), Radio popolare and AndyMag.

On the contemporary music scene Luca performs in the most important European orchestras such as the Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble (PMCE) orchestra of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome where other major solists are present such as Manuel Zurria, Antonio Caggiano, Paolo Ravaglia, Maurizio Giammarco, Gianluca Ruggeri, Luca Sanzò,  directed by Maestro Tonino Battista. Luca has been lead guitar player in renowned groups such as Frank Zappa’s Yellow Shark (produced by Gail Zappa and directed by Johnathan Stockhammer), Steve Reich’s 2x5   (world premiere), Jacob TV’s  The News and Secret Rose by Rhys Chatam (European premiere), K_446 by Michele Tadini with music by Fausto Romitelli, Louis Andriessen, Arvo Part, Kurt Weill (along with Ute Lemper) and Martha Colburn  at the Auditorium in Rome as well as in other important locations such as the MAXXI, the American Academy, the Teatro Petruzelli in Bari, the Festival di Nuova Musica in Macerata, the Festival di Villa Adriana, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. He also collaborated with the ensemble Alter Ego. His solo programme, performed for the first time at the Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma as part of the review In my Life, has been repeated several times in Italian Cultural Institutes around the world such as NYC, Bruxelles and Chicago (De Paul University).

Luca Nostro is artistic director for the NOGO FESTIVAL (www.nogofestival.it), a contemporary music festival taking place at the former Cartiera Latina di Roma sponsored by  Lazio region, which has seen guests among which Riccardo Nova, Elliot Cole, Paolo Marchettini and other world renowned artists as Glen Velez (4 grammy) and Loire Cotler.
Luca has also collaborated with pop e R’n’B musicians such as Piero Pelù, Ute Lemper, Lola Ponce, Kavi Pratt and Sandy Muller and visual artists Mino Trafeli, Martha Colburn, Ilir Zefi, Stefano Tonelli, and Lara Pacilio.
